Praveen Thadani joined Humana as the Market President for Commercial Business in Illinois effective June 2013, and in January 2014 was named National VP of Market Development for the Employer Group Segment. In June 2016, following over two years of successful medical cost management, development of value based provider programs, innovative products, and unique market programs for the Employer Group Segment, Praveen transitioned to the Medicare Segment as the SVP of Strategic Innovation where he led several nationally scaled innovations around care optimization, hospitalization at home, post-acute integration, unique bundles and value based programs, and also several pilots across the country focused on care integration, digitization, artificial intelligence, and interoperability. In April 2019, Praveen returned to the Group Segment and expanded his scope to focus on developing sustainable growth and medical cost management strategies.
Praveen Thadani comes to Humana from UnitedHealth Group, where he held multiple roles from 2002-2013, with progressively higher accountabilities. Most recently, Praveen was Senior Vice President, Large Employer Segment at Optum, a subsidiary of UnitedHealth Group. Prior to that, Praveen was Senior Vice President, United Healthcare National Accounts and Vice President, Alliances, UnitedHealth Group. In these roles, in addition to overseeing large complex relationships, Praveen also handled large system migrations and also had operational and financial accountabilities.
While having diverse roles at UnitedHealth Group, Praveen further rounded his experiences prior to that at Tiber Group (now Navigant Consulting) as a Consultant focused on integrated delivery strategy; at MMI Companies as a Risk Management Consultant; at the Rush System for Health as a Practice Management Intern; and at the Illinois Area Health Education Centers Program in a Public Administration role.
Praveen holds a Master of Science in Health Services Management from Rush University, Chicago and a Master of Public Health from the University of Illinois at Chicago. An article co-authored by Praveen has been published in the Health Forum Journal.
