Norton Children’s Medical Group and University of Louisville School of Dentistry have assumed operations of Open Arms Children’s Health, a service of Home of the Innocents.
Norton Children’s Medical Group – NuLu now provides the general medical, audiology, and psychiatry services previously provided by Open Arms, and UofL Dental now provides pediatric dental care. The practices remain on Home of the Innocents’ campus in the Hockensmith Pediatric Assessment Center at 1050 East Market Street.
“Our new partners allow us to focus on our mission of enriching the lives of children and families with hope, health, and happiness through our behavioral health services and long-term pediatric care. At the same time, Norton and UofL experts will provide increased access to quality health and dental care for children,” shared Paul Robinson, Home of the Innocents President and CEO. “We are thrilled to provide such an amazing opportunity for those we serve and for our community.”
From 2011-2021, Open Arms Children’s Health cared for children’s medical, dental, and behavioral needs across our community, particularly those placed in foster care or whose families struggle with access to quality healthcare throughout our region.
“Providing quality health care to the children of our community is a privilege for Norton Children’s,” said Jennifer Evans, M.D., System Vice President Pediatric Services, Norton Healthcare. “We look forward to caring for children in our new location on the Home of the Innocents’ campus. It is an honor to build on the tradition established by the Home in serving children and families who need special care.”
Norton Children’s Medical Group and UofL Dental will elevate the healthcare and dental services to a higher level through expanded staffing and a full range of pediatric dental care. After 10 years, Home of the Innocents is proud to bring in successful, well-respected partners who will expand services to more children in the community and continue to provide care to those served by the organization.
“Clinics like this one are a win-win. They help meet the oral health needs of underserved populations, while also providing externship opportunities for dental students and residents,” said T. Gerard Bradley, BDS, MS, Dr.Med.Dent., Dean of the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. “Through these experiences, our students become not just more skilled, but also more compassionate. It takes both to be an outstanding dental provider.”
All other Home of the Innocents services remain unchanged, including The Village Pharmacy, Kosair Charities Pediatric Convalescent Center, all on-campus and community-based Behavioral Health Services, and The Aquatic Therapy Center.
The partnership puts Home of the Innocents in a stronger financial position to allow the organization to innovate the legacy programs they have provided to our community since 1880.
