Health Enterprises Network Strengthens Area’s Health-related Economy Through Connections
What do you all do? That’s one of the most frequent questions we get at the Health Enterprises Network. It’s a valid question and one that can be met with many answers.
However, one common thread runs through every answer: we connect people and organizations. Whether it be through our wide-variety of knowledge networking events, social media efforts, or publications, we provide members access to others in the healthcare space and to valuable information about our healthcare community. Through these connections, we aim to foster not only strong individual member organizations, but also to weave an interconnected and robust network of health-related organizations that will continue to cultivate and grow our economy.
Founded in 2000, the Health Enterprises Network (HEN) is an affiliate of Greater Louisville Inc. and is charged with promoting the growth of Louisville’s health-related economy. Members of the Network enjoy a variety of benefits ranging from frequent opportunities to network and connect with other health-related decision-makers to exclusive events focused on pressing issues in healthcare. Valuable health-related information, via publications, video archives, e-newsletters, business guides and social media, is also provided exclusively to the membership. Another offering is HEN’s Louisville Healthcare Fellows program, the area’s only executive leadership program focused exclusively on the healthcare sector. Currently, HEN boasts 188 member organizations with over 1,200 individual representatives. From large Fortune 500 companies to smaller startups, each of HEN’s member organizations are part of a diverse and growing industry composed of hospitals and health service providers, medical device manufacturers and leading health law firms just to name a few.
In recent years, HEN has not only grown in terms of members but also in terms of our geographic service area. The network has serviced the 26 counties immediately surrounding the Louisville area in Kentucky and Indiana for over 12 years. However, over the past couple of years, our reach has extended into the Lexington area and we’ve added Fayette County to our service area. The entire corridor from the Louisville to Lexington area has become more connected in the past year and both cities are working to boost the region’s competitiveness collectively. HEN shares this vision of regional competitiveness that working together can foster.
Other areas HEN has expanded into to strengthen connections in the healthcare space are our social media platforms and website. In the summer of 2012, the network unveiled its most dramatic website retooling and redesign to date. New features on the site allow for a high degree of interactivity. Network members can access contact information for other members at their level or below. Members can also view video archives of speakers and can download many of the network’s communication pieces or publications. And that’s not all – the website allows members to upload press releases, post their organization’s events and have their organization’s press releases and news scroll on the network’s home page via RSS feeds. It truly will become an invaluable tool in HEN’s quest to strengthen our healthcare community’s connections.
